i am a korean born in the states, though i try my hardest to keep my roots in tact. it would be great to visit seoul to actually witness what my friends all tell me, the city life, the culture, not to mention the lifestyle. from pictures seoul looks like newyork and tokyo getting married and conceiving a greater place called seoul :). if im not picked for this trip. its fine, but for the lucky person that does, korea is definitely a place your not gonna be disappointed with. i went in 6-7 years back and i never got to go back again due to financial issues, but if i had the time and the money, i highly recommend you to go. check out korea's high fashion andre kim's line if ur there. eat at lotteria, go to lotte world, post pictures too. seoul cinema is great place to go, its like the chinese theatre in los angeles. im sure theres much more to see but i havent experienced it. just a favor for the winner, please post pictures as i miss korea that much.

gl to everyone i hope the winner gets picked :)

but i wouldnt sell my soul to the devil to go to korea. lol

My Name is Crystal Parrish i'm a 20 year old girl from Florida and i am a Fashion student. I want to sell my Seoul because i'm interested in learning more about Korean culture both past and present. I've always been in love with history and different cultures as well as pop culture and fashion, and Seoul has a great mix of both. At the moment i want to intern in seoul as a stylists assistent before i graduate and so i've been very slowly learning the korean language and alphabet. So when i saw the ad for this in Nylon magazine i got so excited and immediately looked this contest up. I'm fascinated with thier current pop culture and fashion trends so being able to experience it in person would be the chance of a lifetime for me. It just want to expierence it all and learn from it things that i will carry with me forever. Seoul has so much to offer and i would be beyond greatful for the opportunity to be part of this experience. My email address is Cparrish1990@yahoo.com

I would like to visit my family in Korea. Also, watching Korean dramas and seeing all the delicious street foods always makes me hungry! Korea is a beautiful country and it's been too long since I've been there. I'd also like to take my son to visit.

Hello, my name is Joseph An and I am a 26 year old male. I currently live in Cerritos, CA and I am a college student working on a Psychology degree. My email is jojorific@gmail.com

It's been over 17 years since I last visited Korea with my parents! Unfortunately, I remembered it as a horrible trip. Started with travel sickness, and I also remember being chased by this crazy woman who kept lighting matches in my face near the subway. Then a few times, I got yelled at by the police for stepping in the grass. I had such a bad time, I left with a bad taste in my mouth about Korea, and I vowed never to return again.
This past year though, things started to change for me, and I grew a desire to get to know my roots and Korean culture! I started to pick up Children's korean books to better my reading, and joined a local Korean instructed Yoga class to better my speaking abilities on top of getting fit! I enjoy speaking with the ahjumahs after class, and they teach me so much about the culture and many different foods.
With the tensions in Korea right now, the person who wanted to support my Korean trip this summer, decided to pull out. This was a huge bummer for me, and I would still love to go if I can win this trip! One can hope right?!

Korea is a country full of color, life, and the kind people. How do I know? Due to a travel agent gone bad I spent 6 hours-yes, just 6 hours in Korea. My friends and I are not korean, do not speak the language, and didn't know anyone. We where so happy to find Koreans are friendly and welcoming to travelers.
The first taste of Korea was with a very kind cab driver, who offered my friends and I home made tea his wife made-the best hot tea I have ever had! We went to a Korean bath house and got a very well needed scrub down, my friends and I still talk about this experience to this day!
We tried street food, and wished they served this kind of food back home in the states.
6 hours was like a tiny taste of a chocolate cake-you just crave more. I have been wanting to go back ever since. Korea was wonderful for the short time we spent there. I have nothing but great memories and stories to tell.

I know I would be a great contestant for this contest. I food blog, try new things, and love to make mini videos of all my adventures. I really try to laugh and have fun every day!

I like to travel and experience other cultures. I grew up in Los Angeles and frequented our own Koreatown to experience the great food, stores and culture close to home. It would be awesome to be able to actually get to experience the real thing.

hi, i'm kelly. i'm 26 and female and work at an ad agency in los angeles.

basically, i want to sell my seoul in order to find it. i was adopted from seoul as a kid, went to amazing southern parents in SC at 3 months old, and now have crazy curiosity about the homeland. the closest i've ever come in contact with my culture (as you can imagine south carolina doesn't have a lot of access) are koreatowns in NY and LA. 'm fascinated by the people, the food, the traditions.

my parents always tried to educate me on it all, but there's an emotional distance that i've never been able to fill and haven't had the money to. i'd love to just go check it out, tour the city, see where my roots are.

I stumbled upon a channel while clicking channel after channel on the television and found a show that played korean music videos. I fell in love with korean music and decided to look more into korean entertainment such as dramas and movies. I am also very inspired by korean culutre, fashion and food. For these past years I have visited markets, stores and towns that resembles korea or represent korea such as Koreantown. I have purchased many items that are supposedly MADE IN KOREA. Anything korean makes me smile. I would love to visit Seoul and be inspired even more by it's environment and experience korean culture in person. I would love to walk down Seoul's parks and enjoy the atmosphere and participate in many Korean traditions. I am willing to sell my Seoul to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity and learn more about Korea and take back with me the memories and the adventure I would have there.

I want to sell my Seoul because I don't know jack diddly about Korea. If I were to go I know I would have such blast just checking out all the cool/weird/awesome food and culture Seoul has to offer. I would be more than happy to prostitute my personality and document all of my discoveries in Korea. I have a knack for finding the best venues outside of the typical tourist destinations. I also want to get a better understanding of the future rulers of my country! WOHOO for the Asian Invasion! Korea is a rapidly developing nation and I want to discover and show the rest of the world what Korea has to offer.

Hello,

Last year I quit my university where I was studying Italian because I hated that language and I was in love with Korea and Korean language. It started with Korean movies and music and I realized that I had been following the wrong dream all along.. I am 23 years old and I just realized that I want to make music, study piano and live in Korea. It sounds really weird but I can't get enough of this country, it fascinates me to no end. I am well aware that this dream may never come true but I can still hope can't I?

PS: Korean guys are the cutest!

Hi there.

My name is Ray Noriega, I'm 25, Male, I'm an independent contractor, and I live in Lake Elsinore, CA

Why do I want to Sell My Seoul? Well...first off, like alot of people here, I would love to be exposed to a new culture. And being dropped into one of the largest cities in the world would help get a grip on what Korea has to offer haha. Currently all of my Korean influence traffics through YouTube. Their music programs, dramas, reality shows...everything. It's funny because less than three years ago I really couldn't tell you much about Korea other than where it was on the map and that they made it to the 3rd place game in the 02' World Cup. XD. But then I came across a little known group called SNSD. *as if none of you know who they are! haha* Needless to say it all snowballed from there. From that, my adoptive love for Korean culture has led me to exposing it to friends and family and even learning the language...through, of course, YouTube videos and Rosetta Stone. Being Half Mexican and Sicilian you can imagine the look on peoples faces when I'm approached in Spanish and respond in Korean...LOOK I'VE EVEN LEARNED THE KOREAN LANGUAGE BEFORE MY OWN CULTURES LANGUAGE!! lol. I can't sit here and tell you I have many Korean friends and hang out at Korean places. Where I'm at there's...really nothing Korean around except a nice older Korean lady that works at my local walmart. She helps me with my pronunciation haha. So...having said all this *and to finally answer your question* I would like to sell my soul to visit a country I adore and gain a better understanding...literally and figuratively...of the Korean culture and lifestyle. And maybe make a friend or two. Then when you guys hold your "Find Your Angels" contest for Koreans to visit Los Angeles I can show THEM around and show off what America has to offer!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!! :D

I'm 16, male, a student and composer, and I live in Los Angeles, CA.

I want to Sell My Seoul for many reasons. First off, I live in Koreatown. My family is not Korean, but I've grown up frequenting the local restaurants and shops. Recently, I've been learning the Korean language from friends, and would love to have the opportunity to immerse myself in the language and culture, and really learn Korean. I was also exposed to Korean music and K-pop recently, and am now obsessed! I think it would amazing to be able to attend concerts and live music venues in Seoul, and document my entire trip in photographs! Thanks for providing this amazing opportunity and good luck to all who have entered!

I want to sell my Seoul because I feel that it's important to learn about other countries cultures. Also, I have a sick addiction to manwha (Korean comics) and Korean Pop. Also, the fashion scene there is a lot more lively that the fashion scene here in Groton. I want to try out lots of new and unusual fashions that won't be seen often here. In addition to this, I also love Korean food. I would like to try both traditional and novel recipes around Seoul.

Hello there! My name is Emily Corwin! I'm a 19-year-old female college student and I live in Beverly Hills, Michigan. And here's why I want to sell my seoul:

I attended an extremely diverse private school and among all the different people I encountered, the most fascinating friend I made was a Korean exchange student named Joo Won Lee. I met Joo Won in a drawing class my junior year and we became fast friends! Everything he told me about his home was captivating- the architecture, the beaches, the temples, and especially the food! I loved whenever we returned from vacations because he'd always bring back something new and beautiful to show. For our senior homecoming dance, he brought one hundred korean lanterns to hang in the school gym- it was extraordinary! (he even gave me a whole box to decorate my college dorm room with).
Seeing Korea through Joo Won's eyes enticed me. From what he showed me through words or objects, I knew it was a place that I needed to visit for myself. The vibrant colors, the charming shops, the exotic tastes, and the natural serenity of the country appeals to me more than anywhere else.
Thank you for considering me and good luck to everyone!

I'll start by saying that I dont think "Sell your Seoul" is a very promising tagline. "Nurture your Seoul" seems like it might be going in the right direction. But who am I to say??

I could go on and ramble about why you should choose me. But I'd rather keep authentic. I would genuinely love to visit Seoul.

Did I forget to give you my email? Well, no, if it's worth you're while to read this post & you have a genuine interest in who I am I'm sure you can spend the time to find me on facebook - or hey I guess I'm using my gmail account anyways to post this.

I hope the best for you - and the best for everyone else making an effort to visit Seoul (that includes those of you just trying to win a free ipad as well ;).

Thanks.

Why would I sell my Seoul... Other than being semi-dirt broke at the moment... I had actually already tried to make plans to visit Korea for the first time with my Korean girlfriend this summer to celebrate my birthday. Yes, I am turning that certain number I can't even speak bare to say.

But what's the deeper reason with my desire to visit Korea other than having obtained a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do when I was 12, salivate at Korean cuisine, smile upon the bright full colors of the fashion, follow a good handful of Korean MMA fighters making their mark here in the states?

It's because I have been watching Korean cinema for about a decade now. And I've been wanting to "live out" a fantasized surrealness of what I think it would be like to be in Korea. I have watched a few dramas. But there's so much more to the dramas and romance comedies that become a hit there. Directors such as Lee Chang-dong, Kim Ki-duk, Bong Joon-ho (though The Host was a hit) have painted such a beautiful and vivid idea of Korean for me. I want to be lost in those little worlds of Korea that they've created for me. I would love video taping and recording every little aspect of the short week I would plan on being there. The shortness alone will make it all seem like a dream. The bright lights, the busy city.

I would love capturing it all on video. Maybe it'll inspire me even more to finish a script I started years ago.

There's just so much there that I know I won't be expecting that I need to see in person.

- I want to "Sell My Seoul" because as a student of the martial arts, I want to learn from the masters. I had 3 places I really want to visit: China, Korea, and Japan. I'm already planning to go to Japan and study Karate and one day I want to go to China and learn Kung-Fu, but I would really like to visit Korea and learn Tae Kwon Do, the way it was MEANT to be. American martial art organizations "water down" the true principles and culture from their style, I want to learn Tae Kwon Do from true masters of the style, even if only for a short time. This contest would be an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from some of the greatest Tae Kwon Do practitioners of all time.

Steven said...

Hi! I'm Steve, 53, a male event coordinator, living in San Francisco

I'm already sold on Seoul, but not everyone I know is. It's a rather unfamiliar part of the world, which paints your "palate" with a mix of day-glo flavors. The language is a tongue-twister. And the climate - well, on hot days, wear a shirt and bring a fan.

But for me, selling my Seoul isn't a hard sell at all.

I'm in love with the food. It's food stand heaven, with a the ever-present smell and taste of kimchee). There's every manner of bun, noodle, and fish. I've had a hint of this enjoying Korean restaurants in San Francisco and Los Angeles, but from what I've heard, Seoul brings this to a new level.

I'm in love with the colors of Seoul. It's almost as if Seoul has an extended list of colors. While I love San Francisco, the fog gives things the color of gray, and be a bit frigid on the nicer days. Seoul, however, seems to have a visual flavor that covers the full spectrum. It's no wonder that, after seeing movies like Nowhere to Hide and Shiri, the colors seem a little vibrant. One of the best reasons for being sold on Seoul is that has the promise of bringing that world of colors into my real life.

Of course, I'm in love with the music, though I've only learned about it relatively recently. Of course, it would be hard to ignore the beat and songs of pansori - who could forget it after seeing a movie like Sopyonje; it's the story of a young woman who loses her sight to gain a deeper access to a world of music. However, I'd also like to hear - and see - more rockin' bands (like Shorty Cat). I don't know if it's just the promise of these new sounds, but the shock of the new is incredibly promising.

And did I say I love the food? I could live on a diet of of banchan. Once, I ordered normal noodles in a local Korean restaurant, but was treated to a tummy-popping selection of side dishes that I enjoyed even more.

I might be tempted to bring a digital camera to help capture the memories. But on second thought, maybe I shouldn't. There's no way to forget the smells and flavors and music. There's so much to take in that it's reserve my camera - for the next visit.

Going to the I-Park mall, and riding on the subway. I placed 2 locks on the Seoul Tower for me and my fiance. I would like to show her all the great things that i experienced while i was there, and I want to take her to the tower and show her our locks of love.
Its kind of funny because I had a dream i went back to Korea, and just earlier today i was compelled to look up the Seoul Tower on google. Then i come home and get on facebook and see this. Its like Seoul Korea is calling me back.

Why do I want to “Sell My Seoul?” That is a great question.

If you asked me this two years ago, I would most likely have given you a scripted (not to mention corny) answer about how Korea is a wonderful place full of unique culture, amazing food, and hidden treasures.

I mean, until two years ago I had absolutely no connection to Korea whatsoever (unless you count my Grandpa fighting in the Korean War some 60 years ago). You see… I am an American, born and raised in the Midwest. While I would consider myself well traveled, my exposure to Korea has been limited to Korean BBQ, the Wonder Girls, and Samsung computers – all three of which, I must say, are top notch in my book. This was all until two years ago.

Now my story, similar to all great stories, involves a girl: a Korean girl by the name of Da-In. And might I add that this Korean girl is now my ‘significant other,’ if you will. For the past two years, she has passionately shared countless stories with me about Seoul, her hometown. Her stories have ranged from family memories at Suwon Village to vivid descriptions of the Gyongbokgung Palace’s Ten Symbols of Longevity. She has taught me that in Korea, the streets have no names (sorry U2, no pun intended) and that while KIA is a Korean company it was not a Korean company that came up with the dorky hamster commercials. Her passion for Korea has also inspired me to learn how to read and write Hangul, 안녕하세요!

Da-In’s love for Korea has caused me to develop a sense of curiosity and respect for the country. While her stories clearly show her passion for Korea, it is hard to share that passion without having experienced what Korea is really like.

So why do I want to “Sell My Seoul?” Well… I’m assuming you’re asking for reasons other than: trying REAL Kimchi, experiencing one of the most unexplored major cities in the world, drinking SoJu, being the only American in a crowd of a thousand Koreans, witnessing first-hand the bustle that is Incheon International Airport, seeing the streets with no names, feeling the culture shock that can only be felt in an entirely foreign place, and trying out this new language that I’ve worked so hard to learn. While each of these is a viable candidate as to why I would want to “Sell My Seoul,” none of them are my reason.

My reason is much simpler; I want to “Sell My Seoul” so that when I tell stories about Korea, I can speak with the same passion as Da-In.

Why you want sell your seoul?
I've been itching to see something outside of what I know. To feel crowds of people around as I visit yes the tourist spots of Seoul, the feel of the walls as I drag my fingertips along the way as I traverse through the cities and small shops. I want to feel the shock course through me as I stand and realize that I'm miles away from home and enjoying this completely foreign place with a smile on my face.

I still hold vivid memories as a little girl playing with a paper plane and pretending to fly around the world, experiencing different seasons and exploring the unique cultures from countries to countries.

But now, almost hitting a big 40 and with a mountain of commitments, it is disheartening that I yet have the opportunity to travel as much as I yearned to but Korea have never left my mind. Living in a little island that is summer all year round, I often wonder how spring smells like, I wish to feel the falling leaves of autumn and I hope to hold the snow of winter. I want to experience the colors of Korea, to immerse in the rich culture of Hans, to explore the Unesco World Heritage of the land and re-visit the scenes of popular dramas, to spree with the fashionables at the upmarket shopping malls and indulge in the unique taste of the local delicacies.

With that, pick my soul and sell me to Seoul…I’ll be grateful for life ^_^

Cheers!

My name is Michael (or Jun), a self-employed 29 year old Korean-American male in Long Beach, California. I seriously don't know what is meant by "Sell Your Seoul", but I do want a free trip to Korea. I'm sure that just about killed my chances of winning the free trip, but I'll continue anyway.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and went to Korea as a young adult to live for about two years. The reason I went there was because of something stupid I did in the US. I had to run away to a place where I'd be alone. Those two years in Korea, however, were the start of really finding myself.

I experienced aloneness, love, betrayal, depression, and a spiritual awakening... all for the first time -- and all in Korea. Upon returning to the US, I came back with a different perspective. I felt like a new person. Things, I felt, would get better.

However, as it turned out, I was still lost. I still didn't know who I was. I was always trying to become something, trying to do good at this or that, seeing everything in that perspective.

Five years after returning from Korea, I went back. This time, I was only in Korea for six weeks, but that's when everything hit me. I finally realized why I always had feelings of an uncomfortable complacency.

I shouldn't have been trying to become something, I should been more focused on who I really was... and ultimately come to the understanding that there is no "I" -- and that there is no other... that it is all one. At least that's what I know, but I haven't come to the realization yet, and maybe another trip to Korea will bring that to me.

So, as a result of my having had such great awakenings in Korea, I'd like to go again. I always gain something new... I wouldn't say it's "selling my Seoul", but more like finding my Seoul in the first place to begin with.

My name is Jessica Mai and I am 16, a student from New York City.

I want to sell my soul to one of the most magnificent cities in the world because having been there once, I am mystified by the beauty, the people and the culture there. I desperately want to relive the experience and keep Seoul in my mind. I want to sell my soul to Seoul so I can also see what else was out there that I had missed for the brief time that i was there. I want to connect with the culture and just be blown away once again by the beauty that once had me captured and wanting to go back for me.

Seoul, is fascinating in so many ways. The Korean culture has been a part of life since most of my friends are Korean and i never understood what the hype and bragging was about- until i had been there once. My obsession with it's pop culture doesn't help at all since it's not every day that i can go visit Seoul.

This trip would mean the world to me, so that I can experience a taste of the world before I get caught up in college life and school work!

There are far too many reasons why I wish to Sell My Seoul, so I’ll try to keep it simple.

My name is Kerry Gleeson, I’m a 22 year old female living in Los Angeles, CA and my email is gleesonkerry@gmail.com. I am an aspiring screenwriter, though I’m currently working in marketing for a private elementary school with an environmental focus. I have an immense passion for culture, people, and food and my three biggest obsessions (in no particular order) are Ireland, India, and of course South Korea. Ever since I was a child I’ve found myself to be an anthropologist at heart, whether or not I knew what anthropology was back then, and these days I gobble up travel channel shows like it’s my job (and I kind of wish it was).

For many years now I’ve been head over heels in love with South Korean culture, namely its pop culture, and Seoul seems to be the home to much of that pop culture as well as a great deal of South Korean history. Admittedly, my love for all things South Korean began when I accidentally fell into the habit of watching Korean dramas online (Really, it was an accident! I was bored on YouTube one day the summer before I went to college and I haven’t been the same since). I adore Korean food as well--I know a good kimchee when I taste one! I see Seoul as a colorful place full of animated, friendly people and one of my biggest dreams is to prove that theory true in person someday. I couldn’t imagine a better way to get up close and personal with the people, their food, their culture, and their city than visiting it with the purpose of sharing that visit with the world.

As far as how suited I may be, I’m a happy traveler, curious as they come, and I am very comfortable with being on camera (having acting experience and also attending film school for college). I’m also notorious within my family and friend groups for being the girl with a camera in her hand at all times—I love to document my adventures, however small or large they may be, because I think you can find the gold in almost any situation!

All in all, my Seoul isn’t done growing yet and I am beyond eager to continue nurturing it in South Korea.

I've only been to Korea once but I thought Korea was AMAZING, especially the people and the culture. I really want to go back and get a chance to do what "the locals do" and also to get more culturally aware. I also want everyone to know how awesome Korea is and to know it's definitely a top travel destination!

Greetings,

My name is Joel, and I am a 30 year old male living in Pasadena, CA. My day job is in corporate banking here in the greater Los Angeles area.

Why do I want to sell my Seoul? Well ethnically I am 100% Chinese however my mother's family was living in Korea for the past 2 generations, therefore I also consider myself culturally Korean. Having aunts and uncles being born all over the land of the morning calm, I am intrested and intrigued to see their birthplace. Although I am not Korean by blood, I have always found the Korean people and culture warm, inviting, gracious and passionate.

Why pick me? Well it would be an honor to discover this unknown part of my family tree, to find my grandparents grave that I have never seen before and to pay respect to the land and culture that my family once resided in.

Hi everyone. I would love to Sell My Seoul for my mom. My mom was born in Seoul, Korea, and hasn't flew back there in 6 years because of how expensive the airline tickets are. I'm not doing this for me, but for my mom. My mom, dad,my sister, and I haven't been out of the country in 6 years. When i was small, we used to go to different places every year, like Taiwan (my dad is taiwanese), Korea of course, and also Japan, but only to switch flights. If I won this, I would give the ticket(s) to my mom and dad and tell them to have a great time in Korea. The only thing I remember doing in Korea when i was small was going to Nan Da Men, a special place where there is a museum and even a real train. I couldn't imagine how happy you guys would make my mom when she finds out that shes finally going to Korea.
-Thanks,

i want to sell my seoul because i know that there is no other place than korea. Living in nyc means experiencing the diverse cultures and i found korea to be so special from their food choices to their clothing style. i'm aware of their arts, films, and traditions and it honestly struck me to see how beautiful this place is although i've never even been there. To go to korea would be a chance of a lifetime for me and i might finally be able to see why so many koreans have such pride in their country. it would be a honor to sell my seoul to be able to have a life changing experience like this trip.

I'm eighteen and female, a student.
A tiny place called Munford, TN. People from here often just say Memphis, because not even towns nearby know where Munford is. It's a funny case, I learned that as soon as we moved in. Eight years.

Before here, I lived in Ikego, Japan. We had taken a small trip to South Korea once and I remember people walking in the streets, and neato things to buy and Mom telling me "keep up!" It felt so very exciting.

I would like to go back to South Korea this September for a change of scene. I want to Sell My Seoul because cattle crossing the road gets to be a time-wise costly occurrance after the the second time. I want to Sell My seoul because Eight years of county fairs and camoflage have possibly driven me bonkers. Don't get me wrong, this is a great town with a loving heart, but I know I'm ready to Sell My Seoul.

Thank you,

My name is jammie eseta aroni ualesi and im engaged to gabriel dicker. I reside in hawaii and he resides in South Carolina. We met in fort Lee, West Virginia while we was training to get in the army.

In the army you have two types of training. One is boot camp and the other is our job training also known as AIT. Even though people say relationships that happen in AIT are just temporary we managed to prove them wrong. AIT was also known as AS IN TEMPORARY.

He is stationed in South Korea. To be exact he is leaving next month && he has to leave me behind because i am not married to him yet. In the military, you cant move in with the person unless you are married. I graduated my training in february && I havent seen him since. I miss all those weekends we spent together at training. He would leave his friends and catch a bus to my company.

It was so sweet. His company was off post so, i didnt see him on the weekdays. When our company got in trouble and we couldnt leave, he would come to my company just to see me. On the last weekend before I left he took me shopping and we just spent the day with one another.

So, i guess you can call our relationship a long distance relationship now. But, were still holding on. 6 months && were still going. I really do miss him a lot. Korea has a way different time zone compared to hawaii so, thats going to be harder to talk to him. We currently txt/call each other everyday. This is what he wrote about how we met.

Well we met in Fort Lee, VA at the PXtra. Yes we are two soldiers, AIT sweet hearts. Well I(Gabriel) saw Jammie in the pxtra and fell for her on sight. i saw her and thought to myself omg who is that beautiful girl???? i would be crazy to leave here tonight without talking to her. so i gave her my number not really expecting her to call or text but she did, she texted:-). Well we texted and talked for a while gettin to know each other and everday i was fallin more and more in love with her. One day i decided i want her to be my other half. lol kind of cheesy how i pulled it off. one day i brought up the subject of bad boys and good girls belongin together since she saw me as a bad boy. we talked about it being true or not for like 10 minutes so i finally just came out and said; " well you say im a bad boy and i think that bad boys and good girls are the perfect match, what i wanna know is would you like to be my good girl?" she pretty much responded with can i trust you not to hurt me? i told her i promise to never hurt her and only love her and keep her happy. then she responded with "yes i would like to be your good girl". I never knew i could be so happy. She is definitely the best thing that has ever happened to me. We have our ups and downs but i can say the ups out weighs the downs sooo much. We love each other so much, haha sometimes we argue over who loves who more, of course i lover her more:) Anyways this is Gabriel doing this for his beautiful good girl because, well i love her.

wells, take cares && god bless.
aja aja fighting.

Hey, my name is Scott Burden. I was lucky enough to visit Seoul 4 years ago with a couple of Korean friends of mine. Unfortunately, while we were there a flood happened - and I remember one instance where we were on the Train (public transport) and the train had to stop in the middle of no where for almost two hours because the station ahead had flooded. So we were stuck on the train just looking out of the windows at a flooded Seoul, and I couldn't help but think how beautiful it was, and how much I wished I could go exploring and experience all there was about Seoul. The rest of my trip was awesome, but I still regret not being able to do many of the things I wanted because of budget issues, I had only saved up enough to make it to Seoul. Its like getting a taste, but not being able to savor - so I would sell my Seoul to experience Korea again.

My name is Scott Burden, I am a 23 year old male, half Singaporean half American, currently unemployed, living in Los Angeles, and I NEED MY SEOUL.

Hello! My name is Raymond Chetti, a 21 (turning 22 next week!) male, and am hopelessly unemployed living in the boring suburban wasteland that is Long Island, NY.

As a Korean adoptee born in Daejeon, but raised in Long Island from less than a year old, I had never been in touch with my Korean roots until I was 19. My first experience with Korea and the great city of Seoul was during the spring of 2008 when I studied abroad at Korea University.

This trip was a forever life changing experience as I would never view, life, friendships, women, and food in the same light ever again. Every day, for the past 2 years since I've been back in the U.S., there hasn't been a day when I hadn't reflected and reminisced about my time and people I've met in Seoul.

At this point in my boring and monotonous life, I would do anything to go back. This means, even SELLING MY SEOUL to the devil :)

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Raymond J. Chetti

First off, I am your previous winner's, Sandy, boyfriend! I met her after her Sell Your Seoul trip. I imagine you were not disappointed with your choice to bring her to Korea. And because of this, wouldn't it make sense to choose someone who is directly connected to such a perfect person to go on such a trip??

As I age through my 20's, I am realizing more and more how much I want to explore. I want to go places that I have never been. I want to see things I never have. I want to taste foods I have never hear of. I want to listen to languages that I can't understand. I have not been able to do so, which is OK because I got my Master's in Public Health, have entered a field I believe will allow me to help the world, etc. However, the desire to go, see, and do is growing. I have never been to Korea, BUT I WANT TO!!

Meeting Sandy only reinforced this. She speaks about her experiences in Korea with such enthusiasm!! It seems as though it was a pivotal moment in her existence. I am desperately seeking those moments. I also believe that it would only connect her and I even more. Imagine the understanding we would have of one another's experiences, even though they happened at different times!!

For me, what it comes down to is that I do not want to wake up when I am 70 years old and realize that life has passed me by, that I became a spectator to my own existence, that I did not participate in the world. Please help me avoid this. I believe travel and human connection with those formally unknown is quite possibly the best way to achieve this.

Please allow me to explore your country and share it with other people!!!

John

Hello! My name is Christian.
I would like to win a trip to Korea and sell my Seoul.

Different countries, languages, and cultures has always been an interest of mine. The fact that each nation has their own characteristics makes it unique. Korea is no exception; it's a country filled with color and life.

As a Filipino, I have always experienced different cultures where ever I go and I enjoy every single bit of it. Being immersed to all sorts of it both here in the United States and the Philippines, I have learned to understand the characteristics each culture has.

Korea has always been an interesting nation with a very rich history. The language, writing system, the people, lifestyle. food, and everything makes it great. They are very influential, as well. It's evident through the music, visuals, fashion and the food they bring. The melodic tunes makes me dance. The fashion gives me my definite, unique style. The smell and taste of Kimchi and other Korean food is irresistable and mouth-watering. Because of its influence to the world, Korea has contributed a lot more than people would have thought of.

As a student, I'm constantly learning about what I see, hear and feel in a daily basis. Going to Korea will give me a lot of things to learn about. It's benificial as I'm learning more things and learing is an endless cycle. I'm also a constant blogger who always write about my day and the things I realize or think about. Giving me a chance to go to Korea will broaden my horizons. It will lead to more blog topics being posted. What I did the particular day, the food I ate, things in Korea that I suddenly realized and just all the experiences I will have should I get the chance to go there.

I would like to see Korea beyond the mass media such as KPop and KDrama. I believe that I cannot completely immerse to the culture just by listening recorded media or fictional motion pictures [even if they're very realistic]. I would like to see more than that. Visiting historical places, all the tourist spots, and anywhere that I can go at Seoul is what I want to do. I would like to learn about the culture in its realest way than to get a fake impression that the mass media tells me. I would like to learn about Korea's culture, not Korea's pop culture.

As possibly the youngest person to submit a submission here in this giveaway,
I would like to win a trip to Korea and sell my Seoul.

Thank you very much.

My name is Matt and I’m a 23 year old guy living and working in Cambridge, Massachusetts. (email= dapratom@gmail.com) I work as a market analyst for a renewable energy research advisory, and I specialize in wind energy, a quickly growing sector of many of South Korea's most prominent companies. I would sell my Seoul (and part with other select body parts) to be selected to visit South Korea! I am friends Sandy, who won the trip in December (the smiling girl on the website!!!), and I watched her videos and read her blog from the trip with extreme jealousy. Seeing the people, the food, the culture, and the dynamism of a city that epitomizes a global society made me want to experience it all for myself.

Getting out, experiencing, and simply being in awe of the world around me is what living is all about. Some of what happens is planned, but most of it just happens. You have to be willing to go with it, put yourself out there, and occasionally look ridiculous. I like to go out, get lost, meet people, try foods that I can’t pronounce, and I have often looked ridiculous (and there is plenty of photo evidence to prove it). I often explore the city, get off the subway a couple stops early (I hear Seoul has a great subway), take in the local flavor and immerse yourself in everything around you. I would love to blog, take photos, and make videos of my experiences in Seoul to show others what they are missing.

From flying across the world to seeing the famous sights, eating the delicious food, and learning how the locals see the world, I want to do it all. Speaking is only one way to communicate, but a smile or laugh is universal, and all people can appreciate a good time. I want to show the world the good time to be had in Seoul, but there is only so much travel I can do on Google Earth, so I beg you, STEAL MY SEOUL!!

Hello, my name is Reno, aged 17 and I am from The Netherlands. I want to sell my Seoul because I always have been interested in the Oriental culture, and more specific, the Korean culture. I even learned some Korean and Japanese by myself, since I come from a rather old town without any tutors whatsoever. I am very interested in the real daily life of a person in Seoul: The different way of socializing, eating, even transport! Everything is so much different than where I live and it's truly a dream of mine to visit Seoul and drown myself in the different ways of living compared to my old town!

I don’t have time left! I just found this contest on the day of the deadline itself. How sad. I think you already have chosen the winners but, hwaiting, I still don’t want to give this up!

I don’t really know, but way back in my 3rd year in high school, our teacher told us to make a visionary chart. It was something done to show how you view your future, your aspirations in life with a perspective of the present. It was put in a place where you can always see it and be reminded of your dreams in life. Just like when you always look at the picture of your crush, the more you look at it, the more you’ll like him. So yeah I put my dreams and goals there and I really put a picture of SEOUL. The caption was “to go to SEOUL KOREA”. At that young age, I didn’t know much of Korea and can’t answer my classmates’ question why I like Korea so much and want to go there.

And then, because of Sandara Park of 2ne1, Kpop was introduced here in the Philippines. I also went along Sandy’s fire, etc, until the summer of 2010, which was May, I was introduced to SNSD and spent my whole summer knowing the 9 girls. Knowing them also meant knowing other Kpop groups and KOREA itself too. Because of this I had misunderstandings with my classmates. They kept on saying that I should love and support my own country, not others. It’s not that I don’t like my country at all. I really love my country, really. It’s just that I’m also interested about Korea’s culture and stuffs. Their food, their politeness, their entertainment and many more! Why, is it a sin to be interested in others culture? That isn’t listed in the 10 Commandments.

So you’ve read how I badly want to go to korea. I really want to learn more about the country to the point that I’m learning Korean and hangul by myself. I’ll surely sell [not literally] my SOUL just to go to SEOUL. I can even leave my studies for a week just to go there, even if it means being delayed a week in the discussion. I’ll be an independent-16-yr-old girl trying to discover Korea’s way of life and how different it is from ours.

Hi! I'm Caitlin, 21 years old, and a female college student who lives in Riverside, California.

For about a year now, I've been extremely interested in Korean culture and I've been trying to teach myself as much as I can about it. I like listening to Korean pop music and eating at the few Korean restaurants that my city has to offer. I've also been trying to teach myself how to read/write Hangul so it would be nice to visit an environment where I could be completely immersed by it! My major in college is Cultural Anthropology so being able to go to South Korea would be a dream come true! The chance to completely surround myself with another culture and learn how it's similar and different to American culture would be one of a lifetime!

I love traveling and meeting new people. I believe life is about new experiences and taking chances. I think that meeting people from another culture shows how we all have our own unique traits but also that we're not all that different! Since I listen to Korean pop music and watch some Korean dramas, I've seen aspects of Korean culture but that's only part of it. I'm sure that the dramas don't accurately depict how beautiful South Korea is and everything it has to offer.

I went to the Korean music festival and thought it was amazing! I'm really into k pop right now and that was one of the main reasons I attended (to see 2PM haha).

I watch Korean and Japanese dramas. And I love to go eat Korean BBQ :D

I'm not the best writer but I will make people wanna read this blog! If I get picked I would take tons of pictures and constantly Twitter where I've been and what I've seen!

I would love a trip to Korea!

You ask why I want to sell my Seoul.
Truth is, it's not a matter of want.
See, I have an amazing goal.
And it involves five things,
things we all know.

Selling my Seoul would open my eyes.
I want to change the world,
but first I gotta see the world.
Other skies, another sunrise, social ties, things that surprise.

Selling my Seoul would open my ears.
I want to listen to new things,
new words, new music, new ideas.
I don't know much, but "the unknown" isn't one of my fears.

Selling my Seoul would enable my hands to touch.
As children our fingers help us learn:
what's hot, what's cold, what's valuable, what's old.
Like a child once again, through my hands I'd learn much.

Selling my Seoul would open my nose.
Not literally because let's face it,
that would hurt.
But to the scents that help define a nation, scents not everyone knows.

Selling my Seoul would make my tongue sing.
Kimchi, pulgogi,
kalbi, and shinsollo.
Please don't make me contin-is that a chicken wing?

Bad rhymes aside,
selling my Seoul would be an amazing ride.
And that goal I mentioned?
Why, it's still being formed.
My future success rests on opening my senses, my mind, my heart,
and through my words and camera, you'd be there from the start.

I wanna sell my Seoul because most of my friends are coincidentally Korean. They always refer to me as part Korean, and my boyfriend is Korean. I want to get to know Korean culture because I'm coming from a Filipino backround as well as a 'hella sick' nor cal backround too! I'm a bit of a drama mama and I love meeting new people! There would be so many opportunities going to Korea that would allow me to understand the people and society more! Maybe after that I could finally meet my boyfriend's mom and tell her how much I liked Korea. I'm pursuing a major in Fashion Marketing and Design and one day move to New York. This experience could give me so much understanding- being transported to another part of the world and really open my eyes! Take me to Korea baby, All the hangook sarams are gonna be shouting saranghae by the time I'm done with this trip!

<3 They're gonna love me.

I wanna sell my Seoul because of the people that inspire me to do so. The majority of my friends happen to be Korean, as well as my boyfriend. I would like to gain a better understanding of them by experiencing Korean society and their culture first hand! Let me sell my Seoul because I am very outgoing and a bit dramatic. I love meeting people as much as Kim Pap. I come from a Filipino backround, and trust me- Korea is so much nicer than Manila. On top of that, I was raised in Northern California, where most of the ladies, like myself, are: outgoing, clever, and friendly! I am pursuing a Fashion Marketing and Fashion Design Major. Korea's fashion is absolutely adorable. I want to sell my Seoul so that in return I can be inspired by Korea overall! The people, music, food, fashion, and the place itself is a completely different world compared to the small city I live in. Get me out of Cupertino and buy my Seoul!
