Sell Your Seoul Trip 1 - Day 1 - Pojangmacha & Karaoke

We finished out the evening by eating chicken talons on the streets of Yongsan -- the spiciest thing I've had yet, presumably to distract people from realizing that they're eating feet -- and heading to Seoul's neon-infused Hongdae district for karaoke. Different than the American and Japanese versions where you'll sing in front of a crowd of drunks, Korean karaoke is done in small rooms en masse with your friends. If you've ever played Rock Band or Guitar Hero, it's kind of similar, except you're all singing at once. Windows opening from each room to the street kept the embarrassment factor high. To my surprise, our escorts knew almost every song I picked, from Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" to Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline".

"My father's favorite song!" exclaimed the videographer as the opening notes played. Shut up, it's still awesome. And I can belt one out better than Neil any day. It's been a long day. My tongue is still on fire, I've lost my voice. Not a bad way to start off, really. Looking forward to tomorrow, which is themed "Views and shopping". See you then.
