Sell Your Seoul Trip 1 - Day 3 - Screen Golf at Gangnam-gu & Garosu-gil

Next up was nine holes of screen golf. Golf is popular in Seoul, but due to the lack of available space, it's either played on rooftop driving ranges or by video golf. Screen golf is the latter, and we took a taxi to the nearby Yuksam neighborhood where several options exist to hit the virtual links at Golf Zon.

Golf Zon was separated into several small rooms, chairs lining one side and a large screen taking up the other. In the middle sat a small, turf-covered platform, dispensing balls at the press of a button. We flipped through a book listing a number of international courses, eventually settling on one in South Korea, and teed up.

And then proceeded to take twenty minutes to play a single hole.

Okay, so I'm really not a golfer at all. With screen golf, though, you can take as long as you want on each hole without irritating people hoping to play through your game. Want to see if you can putt the entire way to the green? Care to set up shots designed to roll as far down the cart path as possible? Maybe even play the entire course backwards? Like karaoke the night before last, golfing in the privacy of a small room frees you up to try things you might be too embarrassed to do in front of a crowd. It was cheap, too: eight bucks for nine holes. Extravagant pants and checkered hats are optional, but I'd strongly recommend them. Regardless of whether you're playing golf, really.

From golf we headed over to Garosugil, a vibrant community lined with coffee shops and wine bars, which is where we are now. Halfway through the third day on this trip, I'm down to running on caffeine alone. But Seoul's not done with me yet, and if you're interested, it may have something in store for you too. I saw four solid applications for the second trip so far. Is yours in yet? If not, get moving -- the clock's ticking, and this is an experience that you don't want to miss out on. I'm throwing down a challenge for you to beat my +18 on the first hole right now. Bring it.
